President-elect John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to form a dedicated committee to implement his 120-day social contract with Ghanaians.
During a courtesy visit by the Apostolic Fathers, Mahama expressed confidence in his ability to achieve the outlined goals within the 120-day period.
“We have carefully selected realistic targets for the next 120 days. We are committed to ensuring that by the end of this period, we will have accomplished each of them.
I will soon establish a committee to focus on these objectives,” he said.
Further, Mahama emphasised his administration’s commitment to upholding constitutional principles of integrity and transparency.
“We pledge to raise accountability to a higher standard. Public officials must answer for the trust placed in them. This is our constitutional duty.” He said
Additionally, he stressed,
“In a private business, you have the freedom to make decisions as you wish, but when taxpayers fund your office, you must be accountable for every resource place in your care.”
Referring to the 120-day agenda as a “final opportunity to make things right,” Mahama acknowledged the ongoing challenge of corruption in Ghana and the wider region.
“One of the key initiatives within the social contract is Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL), an ambitious anti-corruption drive designed to investigate allegations of misappropriation, recover stolen state resources, and prosecute offenders.”
