The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has pledged to step up efforts against LGBTQ+ activities if he wins the 2024 elections.
Speaking to a gathering of clergy in Accra, Mahama expressed frustration over the current government’s delay in passing the anti-LGBTQ+ bill.
He emphasised that his opposition to LGBTQ+ practices stems from his personal faith, a belief shared by the majority of Ghanaians, who reject the legalisation or normalisation of such activities.
In this regard, he assured religious leaders that his administration would prioritise the swift enactment of the anti-LGBTQ+ law.
“I do not support same-sex marriages, human-animal relationships, or gender changes because of my faith. I firmly believe this, and I guarantee that LGBTQ+ promotion will not take place in our schools and communities.”
Mahama vowed to strengthen laws aimed at curbing the influence of the LGBTQ+ community in Ghana.
