Written by Sarah Boye

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to complete the abandoned oil and gas enclave road projects in Nzema land.

Speaking at the Journey to Nkroful Nkrumah Fest 2024 in the Ellembelle district, Mahama stressed the importance of targeted development in the enclave.

He recalled that during their time in office, they intended to utilise oil revenues to enhance Nzema’s infrastructure and initiated the road project to improve local access, which ultimately went unfinished. He noted,

“The area plays a critical role in Ghana’s oil industry. The Mills and Mahama administration originally launched this initiative, but the NDC left it unfinished after losing power to the NPP in 2016.

Further, Mahama criticised the current government for neglecting these routes and assured the audience that a new NDC administration, set to take office in January, would prioritise the revival of the oil and gas enclave roads project to ensure Nzema land has the necessary infrastructure to support Ghana’s oil resources.
