The NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, has pledged to recruit community health volunteers nationwide to carry out house-to-house health monitoring and provide early interventions.
During his campaign tour, Mahama explained that the initiative aims to detect and address minor health issues, such as breast and cervical cancers, before they worsen. He emphasised that this plan aligns with his broader vision to enhance healthcare access and improve health outcomes across Ghana.
Mahama also announced the creation of the Ghana Medical Care Trust, known as *Mahama Cares*. This fund will dedicate resources to managing chronic diseases, including kidney disease, diabetes, cancer, hypertension, and sickle cell anaemia.
