Former president John Dramani Mahama, has demanded the resignation of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in response to the Cedi’s plummeting value.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Nkwabeng, within the Nkwanta South District, Mahama expressed his frustration with the government’s economic management. He argued that the Cedi’s depreciation has significantly increased living costs for Ghanaians, placing a heavy burden on both households and businesses.
That is, the exchange rate has worsening pointing out that it was GH¢2 to a dollar during the Atta Mills administration and has surged to GH¢16 to a dollar under Akufo-Addo.
Additionally, he asserted that if President Akufo-Addo and his administration were truly accountable and concerned about Ghanaians’ well-being, the president would have resigned when the Cedi first began its sharp decline.
