Lumba Was The First Artist To Pay Me a Significant Amount Of Money In My Career – Appietus

After years of creating beats for musicians, popular sound engineer Appiah Darkwah, also known as Appietus, says Daddy Lumba was the first artist to pay him a significant sum of money.

This comes on the back of allegations by sound engineer, RoRo and singer, Great Ampong, who have accused Daddy Lumba of refusing to pay them after contributing to the production of his 2015 project titled ‘Hosanna’.

According to Appietus, his main goal in the early stages of his career was to market himself and his natural talents to the world.

Speaking on Kumasi’s Pure FM, Appietus stated that the amount of money Daddy Lumba paid him at the time gave him a sense of how profitable the business was and encouraged him to work harder.

“Daddy Lumba was the first artist to give me a substantial amount of money in my career. He came to the studio, and we had a discussion, afterwards, he went out and brought a jute bag saying he had brought me drinks.

“I carried the bag home without checking the content. The following day, my wife asked me if I won’t send the money to the bank, so I got confused. Then she told me the bag I brought was filled with cash. You know when we started it wasn’t about the money but rather it was about the talent,” he said.
