The flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has urged the Electoral Commission (EC) to reprint the presidential ballot papers for the 2024 elections.
Speaking at a press conference, Akpaloo criticised the inclusion of the late Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) candidate, Akua Donkor, on the ballot, arguing that her image could distort the election results. He stressed the need for a reprint to uphold the integrity of the ballot and prevent voter confusion.
“Placing Akua Donkor’s picture on the ballot will create serious problems,Voters will cast their ballots for her, even though she is no more. How will they account for those votes? Presidential results rely on percentages, so what happens to votes for her? Will they include them or discard them?
Further, Akpaloo warned that this issue could lead to disputes, with losing candidates refusing to accept the results due to skewed percentages.
