The Electoral Commission (EC) has instructed its regional directors to restrict media and observer access to collation centres during the 2024 general election.
In a press statement, the EC announced that each constituency collation center will admit only eight media houses, while regional centers will host up to 12 outlets, including five TV stations and seven radio stations.
In addition, Deputy Commissioner Dr Eric Bossman Asare further explained the decision during an interview.
“From our experience and the structure of the collaboration centres, proper management is essential to avoid operational issues,“This arrangement will ensure a smooth collation process at both constituency and regional levels.”he said.
The Commission explained that this measure aims to ensure a secure and efficient collation process to prevent potential challenges at the collation centers.
