“Lead The Charge In Transforming Our Prisons” – Mahama

Written by Yad Media

President John Dramani Mahama has called on the newly appointed Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, to spearhead efforts to transform the country’s prisons into reformation centres rather than mere detention facilities.

Speaking at her swearing-in ceremony at Jubilee House on Monday, March 17, 2025, he emphasised the critical role of the prison service in rehabilitating offenders and ensuring justice.

“The responsibility falls on you, Mrs. Baffoe-Bonnie, to lead the charge in transforming our prisons into true centres of reformation and not just places of incarceration. You have my full support in this mission,” President Mahama stated.

Further, he reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting her leadership, expressing confidence in her ability to drive meaningful reforms that will improve prison conditions and operations nationwide.
