Sudan’s head coach, James Kwesi Appiah, has set his sights on winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
In a recent interview, he highlighted Sudan’s resilience in overcoming obstacles to secure qualification for the tournament, including earning four points from Ghana in the qualifiers.
“Our goal is to win the trophy. By God’s grace, we’ve qualified, and we’ll work hard to build a strong team ahead of AFCON. Once you’re in, the aim is to go for the cup, not to exit empty-handed,” Appiah stated.
Further, he also stressed the unpredictable nature of football, using Ivory Coast’s surprise win in the 2023 AFCON as an example of how anything can happen in the sport.
“Nothing is impossible in football. No team should be undervalue ,”.
The teams set to compete in the tournament include Morocco (the hosts), Algeria, Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Comoros, DR Congo, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal, South Africa, Sudan, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
