Ghana FA President Kurt Okraku has called for calm and unity after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
Addressing the media, Okraku expressed his disappointment with the team’s poor performance, contrasting it with their successful qualification for the 2022 World Cup.
“This is not the outcome we wanted or expected. At this point, we need cool heads to prevail. As leaders of our sport, we must remain united, honest, and focused on fixing this problem,” he stated.
Further, he acknowledged the tough road ahead and stressed the need for collective effort and patience to rebuild the team.
“The journey to recovery is rough and bumpy, but with determination and unity, Ghana will rise again. As a Black Stars fan and leader, I feel this pain deeply. We will overcome this setback,” he assured.
Additionally, Okraku reaffirmed his solidarity with fans and vowed to restore the team’s success.
“From the heights of our World Cup qualification in March 2022 to the depths of this AFCON campaign, my heart bleeds. But together, we will bounce back,” he wrote on Facebook.
The Black Stars ended their campaign in disappointment, finishing last in their group with three points from six games and scoring only three goals. Their poor run concluded with a 2-1 defeat to Niger in Accra, where Mohammed Kudus missed a late penalty.
