Kuami Eugene has firmly responded to allegations of music sampling, dismissing claims that he steals from other artists.
Speaking on Hitz FM,Eugene rejected the accusations by explaining that, like most musicians, he draws inspiration from various sources to craft his distinct sound.
“I don’t steal music.Every artist draws from different elements. It is a common practice of collaboration and borrowing in the industry.”
Citing legends like Michael Jackson and Nigerian stars Davido and Wizkid, Eugene defended the practice of using and adapting melodies, asserting,
“There’s nothing wrong with taking a line or two and making it my own. This is a standard part of musical creation.
However, Eugene expressed frustration over the scrutiny he faces, noting that other artists do not receive the same level of criticism.
“Others seem to get away with it, but whenever I release a hit that includes a familiar line, I’m criticize. It’s frustrating because I put a lot of effort into making my music original while drawing inspiration,” he said.
