Award-winning Ghanaian artist Kofi Kinaata has spoken out about the challenges musicians face during live performances with DJs.
In a recent interview, he discussed Fameye’s performance in London, stressing how unprofessional DJs can negatively affect a show.
Kinaata explained that although Fameye had rehearsed with the DJ, unexpected issues or technical glitches can still cause problems.
“Unless the machine freezes, we won’t know what happened,” Kinaata said during the interview with Andy Dosty.
Further, he also criticised DJs who lack essential skills, such as knowing when to pause, skip, or repeat tracks, which can disrupt the flow of a performance.
“There are some DJs who don’t even know how to pause songs. They’ll let you perform fully, so you have to give them signs or break intentionally,” Kinaata added.
Additionally, he advised artists to remain vigilant during their performances to avoid being blamed for any mishaps, highlighting that both DJs and band members are key to the success of any live show.
