The renowned Ghanaian actor Kofi Adjorlolo has expressed worry about Nigerian films being aired on local networks by Ghanaian TV stations without authorization.
The seasoned actor, well-known for his remarkable career in Ghanaian cinema, condemned the practice, claiming it to be harmful to the rights of Nigerian filmmakers as well as the Ghanaian film industry.
Adjorlolo slammed Ghanaian television stations for showing Nigerian films without restriction, stressing the detrimental effects this has on Ghanaian performers and the business as a whole, in an interview with Hit FM’s DayBreak Hitz.
He expressed his dismay at the tendency, pointing out that because of how easily their films are disseminated in Ghana, Nigerian filmmakers tend to overlook Ghanaian stars.
Adjorlolo, who is now filming in Nigeria, revealed that a large number of Nigerian producers are dissatisfied with Ghanaian TV stations and streaming services for illegally uploading Nigerian films.
He highlighted the monetary repercussions for actors from Ghana and called on local channels to stop the unapproved release, emphasising the significance of adhering to global copyright and intellectual property regulations.
