Ghanaian rapper and singer King Paluta has demanded an explanation from the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board for excluding his song, Makoma, from nominations in certain categories for the 26th TGMA.
In a letter dated March 18, King Paluta revealed that he submitted Makoma for four categories: Most Popular Song, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year. However, the official list of nominees did not include his song in any of the categories he applied for.
Expressing his disappointment, Paluta argued that Makoma met all moral and ethical requirements set by the TGMA board and deserved recognition.
“We respectfully request an explanation from the board regarding the exclusion of Makoma, a song we submitted in good faith and believe to be Ghana’s most popular release during the year under review, generating significant excitement among music lovers,” the letter stated.
Further, King Paluta’s management reaffirmed their confidence in the TGMA board’s competence but urged them to justify what they described as an unpopular decision.
