Swedish coach Kim Björkegren has taken over as head coach of Ghana’s National Women’s Football Team, the Black Queens.
Björkegren, who has seven years of experience in women’s football, has won league titles in Cyprus with Apollon Ladies and in Sweden with Linköpings.
At 43, Björkegren brings a wealth of experience, having coached in China, Sweden, Cyprus, and the United States. He will lead a restructured coaching team, with Charles Sampson and Anita Wiredu appointed as assistant coaches.
Additionally, Enoch Jordan Daitey from Accra Hearts of Oak will serve as athletic coach, while Nassamu Yakubu stays on as goalkeeper coach.
Björkegren steps in following the departure of Nora Hauptle, who left after failing to reach a new contract agreement in late 2024.
