John Mahama Optimistic About NDC’s Victory In Upcoming Elections

Written by Sarah Boye

The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has expressed optimism for a positive outcome for the NDC in this year’s elections.

He emphasized the importance of sustaining the party’s relationship with the Labour Party in the United Kingdom.

In his congratulatory message to the newly elected Prime Minister of the UK, Keir Starmer, Mahama shared his hopes for a robust partnership between the UK and Ghana.

Background:

Keir Starmer is set to become Britain’s next Prime Minister after his centre-left Labour Party secured a significant majority in the parliamentary elections, defeating Rishi Sunak’s Conservatives.

This victory represents Labour’s second-largest majority since Tony Blair’s 179-seat triumph in 1997. Conversely, the Conservative Party faced its worst-ever result in terms of seats.

Millions of voters across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland participated in the elections, selecting their local representatives for the 650-member House of Commons, the UK’s lower house of parliament.
