John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, publicly apologised for a controversial comment he made about Lydia Seyram Alhassan.
As John Dumelo outlined his vision and policies for the Ayawaso West-Wuogon constituency during a Community Manifesto segment on TV3 on August 28, New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters interrupted him with chants of “V8.
The chants referenced the 2017 scandal in which Dumelo allegedly acquired a state-owned Toyota Land Cruiser V8, later retrieved by National Security Operatives.
Provoked by the taunts, Dumelo insinuated that Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the current MP for Ayawaso West-Wuogon, might have been involve in her husband’s death to secure the parliamentary seat.
After facing backlash and reflecting on his remarks, Dumelo issued a public apology in a tweet on X.
He explained that his comment was in response to false allegations about his mother’s death by the NPP supporters and attacks on his personality.
