A court has barred Joana Gyan Cudjoe from claiming the position of NDC parliamentary candidate for Amenfi Central, pending the resolution of a legal dispute.
In a letter, the EC notified Joana Gyan Cudjoe of her disqualification in an October 10, 2024 letter, stressing that it must enforce the court order, which is still in effect.
Reports indicate that earlier in May, the Sekondi High Court had prohibited Joana Cudjoe from claiming the parliamentary candidacy after accusations from Five individuals—Gyedu Frimpong, Akubilla Daniel, Enock Ntiamoh, Isaac Twum, and Doris Aidoo—subsequently filed a lawsuit against Joana Cudjoe, the NDC, and the Electoral Commission.
Additionally, the court prohibited the NDC and the Electoral Commission from recognising Cudjoe as a candidate. While the prosecution did not oppose the bail request, it pushed for stricter bail conditions.
