The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has issued a strong warning against the spread of misinformation and disinformation as Ghana nears the 2024 general elections.
Speaking after an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting on Tuesday, October 15, she stressed the importance of ensuring that the public receives accurate information about the EC’s role in the electoral process.
Further, Jean Mensa emphasised that the commission does not have the authority to determine election outcomes or make any candidate president.
“The EC cannot make anyone president, and we all know this.We must avoid spreading misinformation or fake news that misleads citizens into thinking the Electoral Commission can make someone a president.”she concluded.
