President John Dramani Mahama has called on Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare to investigate the deaths of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 and 2024 general elections.

In a statement issued on January 10, the President’s Executive Secretary, Calistus Mahama, underscored the importance of delivering justice and ensuring accountability.

“I have been charge by H.E. John Mahama to formally request your office to begin immediate investigations into the tragic deaths of Ghanaian citizens during the 2020 and 2024 elections.

Further, the statement also called for the creation of a dedicated investigative task force within the Criminal Investigative Department (CID) to specifically handle these cases.

“We recommend forming a special task force within the CID to give these cases the necessary attention and urgency they deserve, ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation.”
