The Minister for the Interior, Henry Quartey, has imposed a curfew on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region through an executive instrument.
In a press statement, the curfew will be impose daily from 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting Thursday, October 24, 2024, and will remain in effect until further notice.
“The government is urging local chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents—particularly the youth—to exercise restraint and pursue peaceful, non-violent avenues for resolving grievances to support stability in the area.
Additionally, individuals found with arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons within Sampa Township will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
This measure follows a recommendation from the Bono Regional Security Council, prompted by recent chieftaincy disputes in the area.
