Interior Minister Henry Quartey warned police officers to leave their untidy habits from their old barracks behind and maintain the new housing facility provided by the government.
During the handover ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, Quartey stressed the need to keep the new facility in good condition. He made it clear that the government would not tolerate disorganised behavior.
Additionally, he observed the common clutter—such as antennas, fridges, and bicycles—in old police barracks and instructed the Inspector General of Police to ensure the new buildings stay orderly.
On the same day, President Akufo-Addo inaugurated 320 new housing units for Ghana Police Service officers at the Police Training School in Tesano, Accra.
The units, part of the Security Services Housing Project Phase Three, include 112 two-bedroom and 208 three-bedroom apartments.
The development also features an officers’ mess, a social centre, two multipurpose sports courts, and a kindergarten.
This project aims to improve the lives of police officers and their families and demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting the security services.
