India would invest $150 million in Ghana’s agricultural mechanization.

H.E. Sugandh Rajaram, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, has pledged to invest $150 million towards the mechanization of Ghana’s agricultural sector in order to increase productivity.

He mentioned that the Indian government is dedicated to setting up mechanization centers in all rural areas of the nation, where farming machinery like tractors, combination harvesters, and tillers, among other things, will be supplied and maintained.

During his official visit to the Western North Region, H.E. Sugandh Rajaram met Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief of the Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Council and president of the National House of Chiefs, in Sefwi Anhwiaso.

The project, according to H.E. Sugandh Rajaram, aims to improve collaboration between Ghana and India as they commemorate their 75th anniversary of independence.

He continued by saying that although agriculture is a key part of the economy of the nation, its activities are primarily subsistence-based. He declared that his nation is prepared to mechanize the industry with an investment of $150 million.

In his welcome speech, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Paramount Chief for Sefwi Anhwiaso and president of the National House of Chiefs, expressed his profound gratitude for the visit and took the opportunity to list several areas within his traditional area where the Indian government is needed for development assistance.
