“Increase Airtime For Policy Discussions”-Mark Okraku Mantey

Written by Sarah Boye

Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts, and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey, has called on radio presenters to allocate more airtime to discussions about government policies.

Speaking at the Annual Conference of Performing Arts, Mantey raised concerns about the lack of focus on government policies related to the creative arts in radio programming.

He highlighted that while other policies receive ample coverage, initiatives that support the creative sector deserve equal attention.

“I recently asked my senior colleague, Kwame Sefa Kayi, why your shows frequently overlook policies related to creative arts while focussing on entertainment policies. Policies are distinct from the events being produce , and we should discuss Creative Arts policies with the same prominence as those concerning agriculture,” he stated.

The conference, themed “We Have Value: Building Bridges to Success,” brought together key stakeholders in the creative arts industry to discuss challenges and explore potential solutions.

Notable attendees included Adjetey Anang, Apiorkor Seyram, Abeiku Seigo, Stephanie Yamoah, and Nana Fredua Agyemang Ofori Atta, the Board Chair of the National Theatre.
