The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his decision not to engage in a debate with the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking at a rally in Prampram, Mahama defended his presidential track record and dismissed the debate call, asserting that such an exchange with Bawumia would not elevate the national discourse.
Further, Mahama also criticised Bawumia’s management of the economy, pointing to the hardships Ghanaians have endured under the current administration. He insisted that participating in a debate would only grant Bawumia an undeserved platform.
“Akufo-Addo is asking why I won’t debate Bawumia? The reality is, Bawumia doesn’t deserve a debate. He’s losing this election. I won’t lower myself to his level. Their campaign is floundering with no real message, and now he wants to be raised to my level. No, I know my worth,” Mahama declared.
This response comes after President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo challenged Mahama to debate Bawumia on key national issues ahead of the December 7 elections.
