I wanted to sue – KiDi on how he dealt with ‘stroke rumours’

Written by admin

Musician KiDi recently opened up about his struggles with fake news and rumors that circulated about him. The singer revealed that he was tempted to take legal action against bloggers who spread false information alleging that he had suffered from a stroke while he was battling ill-health. Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, KiDi expressed how uncomfortable this experience was not only for himself but also for his family, friends, and the brands he collaborates with.

The false rumors about KiDi’s health had a significant impact on him and those around him. When the news first broke, he turned to social media, only to discover that it had already spread like wildfire. His phone was inundated with calls, including one from his concerned mother, with whom he had spoken earlier and had to reassure her and others about his well-being.

Frustrated by the recurring nature of such incidents, KiDi reached out to Richie, the CEO of Lynx Entertainment, the record label he is associated with. He questioned the constant stream of baseless rumors and highlighted how people were taking advantage of the situation for their gain. KiDi stressed the need for some course of action to address these issues effectively.

After discussions on how to move forward, KiDi ultimately decided not to pursue legal action and to avoid feeding too much into the negative news. This decision came after a challenging period for the artist, during which he had to cancel his North American tour scheduled for March 2023 due to health issues. While he did not provide specific details about his health, the cancellation led to speculations, and some individuals propagated rumors about him suffering from a stroke.

Thankfully, KiDi’s record label, Lynx Entertainment, immediately refuted these rumors, dismissing them as clickbait designed to attract attention and web traffic. Despite the ordeal, KiDi returned to social media in April, releasing a new single titled ‘I Lied’ and making a public appearance at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).

In a prior interview on Lynx TV, KiDi described that period as one of the toughest moments of his life. He expressed disbelief that someone could concoct such a story with no evidence or regard for the truth. The fact that the false reports emerged without him disclosing any specifics about his health issue in his press release further aggravated the situation.

KiDi’s experience serves as a reminder of the damaging impact that fake news and rumors can have on an individual’s life and career. It is essential for people to exercise responsible journalism and fact-check information before sharing it, especially when it concerns someone’s well-being. As artists and public figures become more susceptible to these online attacks, it is crucial for fans and media consumers to discern reliable sources and avoid spreading unverified news.

The music industry can also play a role in promoting awareness about this issue and advocating for stricter measures against the dissemination of false information. By taking collective action, artists and their teams can protect their reputation and mental well-being, ensuring that the focus remains on their artistry and creative contributions to the world.
