Austrian footballer Kevin Danso, born to Ghanaian parents, revealed that he had no interest in football as a child and instead dreamed of becoming an action movie star.
In an interview, Danso shared that martial arts films shaped his early years more than the sport he now plays professionally.
“To be honest, until I was about seven, I hated football. I wanted to be an action movie star and was really into karate. Even when my dad and brother watched football, I found it boring. I preferred watching Jackie Chan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and other action heroes,” he admitted.
However, his perspective changed when he suddenly developed a passion for the game. “One day, something just clicked, and I realised I actually liked football. I started as a striker, and from the moment I began playing, I knew this was what I wanted to do. The rest, they say, is history,” he added.
Danso, born in Voitsberg, Austria, moved to England at six and later joined the MK Dons youth academy. Scouts quickly recognised his talent, leading him to sign with German club FC Augsburg, where he made his professional debut in 2017.
