Popular Ghanaian comedian OB Amponsah has expressed frustration over losing GH₵ 40,000 from his recent event at the Bukom Boxing Arena.
In an interview on Hitz FM, OB discussed the many challenges creatives, including comedians, face when organising shows. He revealed that his recent comedy show at the Arena ended in a major financial loss.
“Even the one at Bukom Boxing Arena, I lost about GH₵ 40,000. I’ve done five comedy specials with no profit,” he told host DJ Slim.
Despite the financial challenges in the creative industry, OB emphasised the value of investing in his craft. “As George Quaye said about investing in yourself, even if the money doesn’t come back as profit, it will reinvest into my craft,” he explained.
OB made history on December 21, 2024, by filling the 4,000-capacity Bukom Boxing Arena for his 10th anniversary comedy show.
