“I Hope To Inspire Peace In Sudan”-Kwesi Appiah

Sudan’s national team coach, Kwesi Appiah, has expressed optimism that his efforts with the team can create a positive impact and contribute to ending the ongoing conflict in the country. 

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Appiah revealed his determination to achieve a milestone that could foster peace in Sudan.

“I want the team to perform well and accomplish something meaningful for the people of Sudan, which could help bring an end to the unrest. Nothing is too hard for God, and I never underestimate myself,” the 63-year-old coach emphasised. 

Further, he expressed confidence in his players, stating,

“I believe these players will support me, and together we can achieve something great for Sudan.” 

Since April 2023, the Sudanese Armed Forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have fought a civil war in Sudan.The conflict has caused widespread devastation, leaving nearly 25 million people in need of humanitarian aid. UN Secretary-General António Guterres described the situation in October as a “nightmare of violence, hunger, disease, and displacement.”
