Ghanaian rapper Medikal has revealed that his criminal record forced him to clear his name with embassies before he could travel.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz, Medikal discussed the difficulties he faced following his 2021 arrest for posting a video of himself with a gun on social media. He described feeling dehumanised by the experience, calling it unfair.
“My last interaction with the police was far from friendly. I had to clear my name with embassies before I could travel,” he said, noting how stressful the process was.
Further, Medikal also explained that he didn’t realise posting a picture with a registered gun on social media was an offense. He expressed disappointment with how his case was manage , arguing that he didn’t commit a crime.
“Brandishing a weapon isn’t just taking a photo of something the police have registered and licensed to you,” he stated.
While sceptical of the next government, Medikal hopes they will treat citizens fairly moving forward.
