Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavins Records, has refuted charges that he gives his artists fraudulent streams in order to boost their popularity.
In a recent interview, the producer and artist claimed that, contrary to popular opinion, streaming farms—where streams are artificially inflated or listen counts are illegally increased—have never existed in the history of music.
There is no streaming farm, for the love of God. I don’t know if people have it, but learn from those who are excelling and leading the way, like us. There is no goddamn streaming farm, I’m telling you. Don Jazzy said, “That doesn’t make logic.
If purchasing false streams was a thing, all of the artists in his company, he observed.
He questioned, “If there’s a streaming farm, why don’t I buy it for my artists who aren’t winning?”
This comes after several fans recently criticized Don Jazzy and other record label owners on social media for employing streaming farms to rig stream counts in favor of their artists.
Meanwhile, DJ Jazzy recommended artists to put more of their attention on creating successful music and marketing rather focusing on things like fraudulent streaming.
He argued that if musicians discover they cannot purchase streams, their spirits may be destroyed and that others may begin to slack off because they believe they can manage their audience.
“You get lethargic as a result of all these off-topic conversations about how somewhere has a streaming farm. Produce great music as you do the required actions to promote your recordings.
“Just because a streaming farm is close doesn’t mean you should sit there and presume that someone is coming here. You alone will be impacted, I can assure you. You’ll think it’s not possible to do. It cannot be obtained. Ogbeni, you are doing yourself a harm.
