Ghanaian musician Amerado has explained that he declined a feature request from Highlife legend Barima Sidney because he felt he wouldn’t be able to deliver effectively on the song.
In a recent interview, Amerado clarified that he didn’t believe he could effectively deliver on the song, which influenced his decision to refuse the collaboration.
“A perfect example is the legendary Barima Sidney. He sent me a song that I loved, but I told my team that I didn’t think I could do it justice. So, I requested a remix of one of his hits, but that didn’t pan out either,” Amerado shared.
Further, he also expressed his openness to collaborating with Barima Sidney in the future, provided he connects with the material.
“I’ve seen interviews where Barima Sidney mentioned that I ignored his feature request. He should take it easy on me—who wouldn’t want to work with Sidney? But sometimes, we need to find a song that I can truly deliver on,” he said.
Additionally, the rapper highlighted that he is currently working with Joyce Blessing on a remix of her new song, “Overdo,” as he feels a strong connection to it. “Joyce Blessing sent me a song two days ago, and I recorded it yesterday because I genuinely connect with her ‘Overdo’ track, and we are working on a remix,” he added.
In July, Barima Sidney revealed in an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM that Amerado had turned down a request to feature on his song “Bibia B3y3 Fine.”
Sidney explained that after sending the instrumentation to Amerado at his request, he received feedback indicating that his management had advised against the collaboration. Months later, Amerado has now addressed the situation.
