President John Dramani Mahama addressed the challenge of selecting just 60 ministers from the thousands of applications he received.
Speaking at the Presidential Dinner in Accra on Wednesday, January 8, he stressed the need to assemble a strong team to deliver on the promises made to Ghanaians.
“I have hit the ground running.“Today, I met with key multilateral and bilateral partners to discuss how we can improve the lives of our people, tackle economic issues, and move forward. I expect everyone involved to be fully committed.”
Further, Mahama acknowledged the difficulty of meeting the public’s high expectations while sticking to his promise of a leaner government.
“You wouldn’t want to be in my shoes, having promised only 60 ministers while thousands submit their CVs. Some will inevitably be disappointed,” he remarked.
Despite the challenges, Mahama reassured the public that his administration’s success won’t rely solely on ministerial appointments.
“The success of this administration will secure us another term, perhaps with a different leader. But we must get it right to maintain the confidence of the Ghanaian people,” he concluded.
