The Ministry of Health has referred the alleged medical misconduct at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Attorney General’s Department for further investigation.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 2, the Ministry revealed that an initial probe by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) uncovered negligence by hospital staff, which contributed to a fatal outcome.
Additionally, the Ministry confirm that it has pass the case over to the CID for a criminal investigation and ask the Attorney General to assess the legal responsibilities of the staff caught up.
This decision follows the GHS’s findings of serious misconduct, particularly regarding the case of a patient who was move to Ojobi and subsequently abandoned, leading to her death.
