Hassan Ayariga, the presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), has vowed to substantially increase wages if elected.
During the launch of his nation’s manifesto, Ayariga outlined his vision to transform Ghana and restore hope to its citizens, with a strong focus on economic reforms aimed at improving workers’ livelihoods.
As part of his 2024 campaign, he pledged to raise the minimum salary to GH¢5,000 if he wins the presidency and promised to increase the current minimum wage from GH¢18 to between GH¢150 and GH¢300.
Ayariga also proposed shifting from a monthly to a biweekly payment system, allowing employees to receive their wages every two weeks, a move he believes would enhance financial stability for workers in Ghana.
“Our people deserve better wages. It’s unacceptable for salaries to fall short of covering basic expenses. This must change, and under my leadership, it will the current wages leave many Ghanaians unable to meet their essential needs.”
His manifesto launch follows his official clearance by the Electoral Commission to contest the 2024 presidential election.
