GRA Reportedly Fined Cheddar Gh50k For Repeated Tax Evasion

Written by Louis

The New Force Movement’s leader and a businessman from Ghana, Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, has been involved in a number of tax fraud controversies that have exposed his apparent disdain for state laws and dedication to national progress.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has accused the well-known businessman, who recently declared his candidature for president in the country’s impending general elections, of evading taxes.

According to the Ghanaian Times, Cheddar was fined GH¢50,000.00 for failing to file personal income tax forms between 2013 and 2016. This information was obtained from a trustworthy source at the GRA.

According to sources, even though he settled GH¢209,171.00 between 2018 and 2020, he neglected to file his taxes for the time after 2020.
The source also revealed that Cheddar’s tax assessment for the years 2021–2022 was projected by the GRA to be GH¢2,088,228 and GH¢5,096,536 correspondingly, plus penalties for not filing his personal income tax returns.
The Times cited the source as saying that in addition to raising worries about Cheddar’s financial practices, the tax fraud issue also raises doubts about his devotion to national development. The source also underlined the significance of personal income tax as a vital source of data about an individual’s asset holdings and investment activities.

Cheddar is well known for owning a large number of expensive cars, registering several businesses, and giving substantial presents and donations. However, the GRA claims that the Commissioner-General has not been informed of the sources of cash funding the New Force leader’s opulent lifestyle.
