The government has launched the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, also known as Mahama Cares, to provide financial assistance to individuals suffering from chronic diseases such as kidney failure, cancer, and heart conditions.
At the launch event held at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, President Mahama called on the private sector to support the Mahama Cares initiative as part of their corporate social responsibility.
“I encourage all corporations, both private and public, to contribute a portion of their annual CSR to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, as it will significantly benefit the country,” Mahama said.
Further, he urged businesses, banks, and mining companies to consider their donations as a way to support their clients, staff, and the wider community.
