Finance Minister Dr Mohammed Amin Adam has reassured both Ghanaians and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) of the government’s strong commitment to fiscal discipline.
Speaking at a joint press briefing with the IMF, he emphasised that, regardless of the election cycle, the government’s policies will remain focused on sustainability and economic stability.
Further, Dr Amin Adam announced that, following the 3rd Review of the Post-COVID-19 Programme for Economic Growth (PC-PEG), they have reached a staff-level agreement, highlighting the significant progress in achieving the program’s objectives.
He explain that the IMF Executive Board will review the agreement in early December 2024, and if agreed to, Ghana will receive an additional US$360 million, bringing total disbursements under the program to US$1.992 billion.
Additionally, Dr Amin Adam thanked Ghanaians for their support, emphasizing that public and stakeholder backing has strengthened the country’s progress.
