Mimi Andani, the founder of the Golden Movie Awards, recently made a revelation during an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z. According to her, there will be no more Golden Movie Awards due to a lack of sponsorship.

The Golden Movie Awards Africa was established to promote and recognizing the achievements of African filmmakers. The event attracted industry players from across the continent and beyond, and was a platform for showcasing the best of African cinema.

during her interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z disclose that Golden Movie Awards did not come off last year because of lack of funding.

However, it appears that the current economic climate has made it difficult to secure the necessary sponsorship to continue with the event. Mimi Andani emphasized the importance of sponsorship in the success of such events, highlighting that without the necessary funding, it would be impossible to put together and No company is willing to sponsor me,” she announced on Showbiz A-Z.

“I have one million percent support from the industry. Thousand and billion support. I will not sit on this platform and lie against these directors and producers. They support Golden Movie Awards with their hearts,” she told the host Kwame Dadzie.
