The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) has issued a three-day deadline to the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Police Service to prosecute a student accused of assaulting and permanently injuring a teacher in Offinso.
GNAT Secretary, Mr. Tanko, disclosed that the incident began when the teacher instructed the student, who was loitering after break, to return to class. The situation escalated, and the student stabbed the teacher in the left eye. The attack has left the teacher permanently blind in that eye, derailing his career and altering his life.
Further, the association also cautions the GES and the police service, warning that it will take further action if the matter is not resolve promptly.
“If we do not hear any positive updates by next week, we will announce our next steps,” GNAT warned.
