Ghanaian actress Gloria Sarfo has sharply criticised the organisers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) over ticketing issues that left several Ghanaian filmmakers stranded at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport.
In a November 3, 2024, Instagram Live session, Gloria Sarfo expressed disappointment, indicating that the ticket issues left over fifteen filmmakers and media personalities stranded, despite the organizers’ promises of a fully sponsored trip with confirmed flights and an itinerary.
“Although invited to attend the 20th AMAA ceremony in Lagos, Nigeria, filmmakers couldn’t board their flights due to ticket issues.”
In response, AMAA Country Director for Ghana, Judith Oluwole Kuwornu, addressed Miss Sarfo’s criticism, attributing the delays to unforeseen technical issues with the airline.
