President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged global leaders to take bold, decisive action to combat the climate crisis and move beyond empty rhetoric.
Speaking at the World Climate Leaders Summit during COP29 in Azerbaijan on Wednesday, November 13, he emphasised the need for immediate measures to protect vulnerable communities from the escalating impacts of climate change.
“With time running out, we must show that we are more than policymakers—we are stewards of our land and environment, united by our responsibility to protect it,” he said. “Our children’s future depends on the decisions we make today. COP29 must mark a shift from dialogue to action.”
Further, he also prioritised climate financing, calling on developed nations to honour their pledges to fund initiatives that accelerate the transition to green energy.
