GJA Deploys Volunteers Nationwide To Monitor Elections

Written by Sarah Boye

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has mobilized volunteers across all 276 constituencies to monitor the electoral process, address any misconduct involving media practitioners, and ensure their safety.

At a press briefing, General Secretary Kofi Yeboah announced that the association had received 9,009 media accreditation tags from the Electoral Commission, including 100 for foreign journalists.

“The GJA has formed a seven-member Election Monitoring Team to compile a comprehensive report on the elections. Additionally, the Gifty Afenyi Dadzie Conference Hall at the Press Centre will serve as the main venue for political actors to hold election-related press conferences,” the statement read.

The Association has also launched a platform to project provisional and certified election results on large monitors at the Press Centre, providing updates for media personnel, political actors, and the public.

With its central location, the Press Centre offers a convenient space for political actors and the media to engage in election discussions at no cost.

The GJA has engaged extensively with political parties and media managers, receiving unanimous support for this initiative.
