Ghanaian football fans are dishearten by the Black Stars’ 1-1 draw with Niger in their second Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at Stade Municipal de Berkane in Morocco.
Despite taking the lead through Alidu Seidu before halftime, Ghana failed to hold onto their advantage, and Niger’s Oumar Sako equalised just 10 minutes before the final whistle.
This result has left many Ghanaians frustrated, with criticism directed at the team’s lack of intensity and focus. There are also concerns about the Black Stars’ recurring lapses in concentration during crucial moments, which have led to missed opportunities and inconsistent performances.
Despite the underwhelming start to the qualifiers, there is still optimism that Ghana can regain their form before the AFCON tournament in Morocco and achieve their 11th consecutive appearance, having missed the competition in 2004.
At present, the Black Stars are in third place in Group F with just one point from two games, following a surprising defeat in Kumasi and the draw with Niger. With five points dropped, their path to qualification has become quite challenging.
