Jordan Ayew and Louis Mafouta both netted sensational hat-tricks in the thrilling 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Their impressive performances led Ghana to a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic (CAR).
At the beginning of the match, Ayew opened the scoring with a penalty after just six minutes, but the Central African Republic took the lead by halftime with Mafouta’s brace.
In the second half, Ayew added two more goals, and Abdul Fatawu Issahaku scored, securing Ghana’s victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, despite Mafouta completing his hat-trick.
Ghana’s coach, Otto Addo, made three changes from the previous win against Mali, with Ayew, Issahaku, and Kamaldeen Sulemana starting.
He also switched to a back four and maintained a strong midfield partnership with Thomas Partey and Abdul Salis Samed, while Ayew led the attack.
Ghana now tops Group I with nine points in four games and will next face Chad and Madagascar in March 2025 in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
