Ghana Police Service Refute Allegations of Secret Recruitment

Written by Sarah Boye

The Ghana Police Service has firmly refuted media reports claiming it is recruiting personnel without any public announcement.

The police wrote in a post on X that allegations attributed to the Member of Parliament for Wa West, Peter Lanchene Toobu, are false.

“We have taken note of comments from the Hon. Member of Parliament for Wa West, Mr Peter Toobu, alleging that a recruitment exercise is underway at the National Police Training School without a public announcement. We clarify that we have not commenced any such exercise,” the posts read.

According to a report, the Wa West legislator, who also serves on the Defence and Interior Committee of Parliament, voiced serious concerns about alleged irregularities in the recruitment of security personnel in Ghana, describing the situation as state capture.
