The Ghana Police Service has assured a thorough investigation into the case of a 24-year-old woman found unconscious in a hotel swimming pool in Takoradi.
According to the statement, the police received reports from the family of Lois Abena Korateng, who had gone missing. The police promptly initiated an investigation, examining both the scene and the body.
However, there were no signs of assault. An autopsy performed on June 9, 2024, at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital indicated the cause of death as asphyxia, severe pulmonary edoema, and drowning.
Amid concerns from the deceased’s family about the police’s communication, the Inspector-General of Police issued an apology acknowledging the shortcomings and assuring the family of ongoing investigative efforts.
The police remain dedicated to working closely with the family as they continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
