Ghana is responsible for my success – Basketmouth

Basketmouth, a popular Nigerian comedian, believes he owes Ghana gratitude for helping him achieve success as a comedian.

He explained on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM that the show that catapulted his success was held in Ghana and was well received around the world.

On Tuesday, he told Andy Dosty, “I owe you guys (Ghana) a certain level of my growth.” The first big show that sold me to the world was in Ghana, when I performed “two things involved,” and that performance was what sold me.”

Basketmouth stated that he has always tried to incorporate Ghana into his art out of appreciation and love for the country.

Basketmouth rose to prominence as one of Ghana’s favorite comedians after performing his infamous ‘two things involved’ stand-up routine at the Accra International Conference Center several years ago.

In the years since, the Nigerian comedian has always admired Ghana.

He created a comedy show called Ghana Jollof, which follows the story of two Nigerians who moved to Ghana, as one of his many ways of expressing gratitude.

The story stars well-known Nigerian and Ghanaian actors. Basketmouth also released a Ghana Jollof single with Kwabena Kwabena.

“I’ve always tried to integrate my art with Ghana,” he said on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz.

Basketmouth is currently in Ghana ahead of his ‘Unprovoked’ show on April 8.
