The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has initiated an investigation following accusations that an elderly patient was abandoned in a bush near Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region by the Winneba Government Hospital.
The woman, previously hospitalised at the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba, was discharged without her relatives present and then transported by the hospital’s ambulance to Gomoa Ojobi in a wheelchair. Tragically, she was later found dead.
Expressing significant concern, the GHS is conducting a comprehensive investigation to confirm the facts and circumstances.
The GHS reiterated their commitment to maintaining high standards of care and accountability, warning that anyone found guilty of misconduct will face harsh sanctions according to their Code of Conduct.
